The Poet

This transfer we started a challenge in the mission where each companionship is supposed to hand out 20 book of mormons that have member written testimonies in them by the end of the transfer. We decided to put a lot of focus in the challenge because we started this transfer without a lot of teaching friends and we have some more time to proselyte. And also I want to give my new companion an impression that he will keep with him throughout his mission that giving out Books of Mormon to people is just something we do every day (It should be something we do everyday but it can be pretty difficult, so a lot of  missionaries just hand out little cards cause people accept them easier).

Anyway we spent the first couple weeks getting a lot of members to write their testimonies, and then a few days ago during weekly planning we realized we only had 20 days of the transfer left to hand out all 20 book of mormons. But we decided we are going to have the faith to try and still hand out 1 each day for the rest of the transfer, and since then we have had so many miracles! We gave out 2 during a few lessons with new people, one to a guy on the street, and we offered one to all 17 people who came to english class but only 3 took one. But that's already 6 of the 20, and it is fun to see my companion get super excited about the goal, or really just anything since this is his first transfer haha.

The poet was more than thrilled to receive his Book of Mormon πŸ˜Š

Not really sure where to begin about our appointment with this guy. We got him as a referral and his name was "the poet." I've already met with someone who was a poet once before so I wasn't sure how it would go but we set up a lesson with him. We met him at the park, and it ended up being pretty eventful! Not sure if I'll say it was good or bad, but it was eventful. He showed us his poetry, took some fun videos with us, we had a nice picnic, and shared some scriptures!

He already knows a bit about Joseph Smith, and it seems he really likes him! Maybe a little too much, but yeah we'll see what happens. He is all over the place,  physically and mentally, but despite that the lesson was going pretty good. Until a red dot spotted us... and the poet didn't know who the red dot was so when he started to try and talk to us the poet invited him into the conversation. Anyway it was pretty downhill after that cause the red dot was saying some pretty bizarre stuff randomly, but the poet, being the amazing guy he is, vouched for us and defended us, and even joined in on our teaching the red dot and he himself extended an invitation for the red dot to come to church! Anyway it was really weird but yeah that's (part of) the story.
