Doors X 1000

We set a goal this week as a district to knock on 1000 doors. It was my first time trying door knocking and it was actually not too bad. And we hit the goal in 5 days with a few days to spare which was great!

Door knocking, or 카카호호 as we call it, isn't the most effective, but it was a good experience. I'll give you the rundown. You knock on the door. A lot of people ignore the first knock for some reason haha. You knock again. They ask "who is it" from inside the door. You say "hello" (you don't wanna give away the identity before they open the door, or they won't open the door usually). Then they usually say through the door, "No, I asked WHO is it." You say "hello" again lol. And usually it's about 50-50 after that, some answer and some don't.

We definitely met quite a variety of people though, and a ton of insanely wasted people. Out of all the doors we knocked, we found 1 person who gave us his number and accepted a Book of Mormon!! I think he was high but that's okay. It's not about the decisions he's made thus far, but about the decisions he makes when he learns the word of wisdom. And the great part is we know where he lives, so if he doesn't answer his calls we can just go to his house!

Other fun things from the door knocking was getting some free yogurt from a grandma and also someone walked out of their house right as we were about to knock. That second one was actually just a lot more awkward than fun but yeah. We leave them a card in case they don’t answer.

went on a sweet hike

cherry blossom season

Oh also transfers are this week and luckily I'm staying in Sokcho. The other elders are leaving though sadly so it will just be me and Elder Morris out here with the closest other missionaries a few hours away. Also we're gonna be receiving all the responsibilities that the other elders had so it's about to get pretty crazy. Also after a full transfer of working on it we FINALLY STARTED ENGLISH CLASS

 🥳🥳👏👏

We have 2 students who attended last week and I'll be pretty sad if they don't come again... but we'll see what happens

I took a lot of pics this week so 훔쳐보셔도 돼요

헬로 에브리원

Highlights:

snow again

our power broke about 20 minutes ago

tradition is tradition (dead mouse)

Cool moment:

We were finding along the river and stopped a lady to talk to her, and she got super excited and said how she had been praying a lot recently and that seeing us was a big answer to her prayers! And she even showed us her written testimony (or maybe it was her daughters or something? I kind of zoned out at that part and she was talking fast so) but I read it and told her it was very touching (I didn't understand it) but yeah that was a miracle for us because we had decided to go finding in the morning rather than studying in the morning, and we were able to answer her prayer and get her number. Unfortunately she's not from 속초 but we can refer her still. Also we took a picture with her.

Lady by the river

I want to share how important it is to have an experience in the scriptures every day. I've come to realize recently that the more you study the scriptures the closer your relationship will be with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It can be really easy even to fall into a habit of just skipping one day or the weekend, but your relationship will be a lot better if you read every day! I feel like I say that every week. Anyway that's all for this week.

Green Dot

It all started earlier this week during weekly planning. Me and my comp were sitting in a Cafe, looking at our key indicators with a feeling of discouragement.

Key indicators:

New teaching friends: 0/1

Lessons with member: 0/0

People at sacrament: 0/1

People with baptismal date: 0/0

People baptized and confirmed: 0/0

New members at sacrament: 0/0)

And then, we suddenly got a phone call from a random number. Turns out, it was someone we had called a few weeks ago and he wanted to meet in one hour, at the exact Cafe we were already at! So it worked out perfectly, and he turned into the first green dot of our new area!

Other highlights:

soccer with the middle schoolers

hanging out with some members

kitchen duties

beach

new teaching friend

Not much else, it snowed a ton again last night, but I think that was the 꽃샘추위 so we should be good from here on out. I'm out of time so that's all.

봄 아닌가요?

Well the weather got nice for a few days but then it snowed a ton last night so l'm not sure anymore. But hopefully it snows again tomorrow cause we were hoping to do some snow shoveling service and help some people out, and maybe even teach some of the first lesson while we're at it. Everyone would have no choice but to listen if they want our help.

Also hopefully it snows one more time cause it's on my bucket list to see snow on the beach. I feel like it would be weird but freaking beautiful (did anyone catch the reference)

We mostly proselyted this week since we don't have any teaching friends. We got some numbers though and met a foreigner from south Africa named Ray who seems to have interest in meeting with us! He left us on read the first time we texted him though. We'll give him a call tomorrow prob

Also 속초 has a bunch of random hidden amazing places and scenic views, and we stumbled across this 1-2 hour long walk around a huge lake that's super scenic and way enjoyable. And that's a lot coming from me cause I'm not a walks enjoyer kind of guy. I think we might start walking around it occasionally in the evenings though and proselyte cause we had some success doing that the other day

other stuff:

me pondering

beach pros (nobody was from 속초)
