It feels like it's been 2 months since my last email. This has definitely been one of the most confusing weeks of my mission. I'll start the day before my birthday.
Before our volleyball activity on Wednesday we decided to eat at Popeyes as we waited to transfer news to come out. I thought it was just gonna be a Popeyes/transfer news party but it ended up being a Popeyes/birthday/transfer news party. I wanna thank the chillest district ever (rip chillstrict

) for not just an amazing transfer, but an awesome birthday party too
Later than night we got transfer news and I'm devastated to say that I left 영등포. That night was filled with a lot of emotions. there was a lot of packing, saying goodbyes, listening to sad music, eating mangos, and maybe even some crying
The next day was my birthday, which was all a blur lowk. I spent most of the day in 송파, waiting for the next day when I'd pick up my new companion (a greenie)
It was another sad and long day, but i did get the tender mercy of eating at my fav 김치찌개 restaurant in 송파 with my family
(son and grandson) the next morning i woke up in 송파, and it took me about 5 minutes (exaggeration, it was only about 30 seconds
) to remember where i was. I thought it was all a dream. Which inspired me to make a video. You can see it in my google photos if you want

The next day was the greenie pickup, which is where we'll now talk about the title of this email. I'll admit I had a bit of a sour attitude at the greenie pickup since I didn't even wanna get transfered in the first place. That is, until President addressed us. FYI whenever pres gets up for a speech I don't expect much...nothing against him, I love and sustain mission president Brother Kim (chillstrict
) but he's not a super inspirational speaker haha. Anyway, he got up there, and asked us a question.
) but he's not a super inspirational speaker haha. Anyway, he got up there, and asked us a question. He asked, "When does a flower produce the best fragrance? When does it exude the best smell?"
I heard that and was like bruh, first pres whitewashes us and now he's talking about flowers. But then he said something inspirational. He said, "A flower produces the best fragrance after it is crushed."
He said more things after that, but nothing I can remember. No idea for who's benefit he was saying that, or why. But I felt like he was talking straight to me, and I'm not so sure he wasn't. I definitely felt crushed after being whitewashed and demoted. But now I know that it is part of God's plan, and we all need to experience crushing if we are going to produce the best fragrance we can.
I felt like it was too soon for a transfer, and transferring to a new area did not feel right at all. But I know that God gives us challenges, not because he knows what feels right for us, but he knows what is right for us. After transferring to 일산, I picked a desk in the house, and there was a sticky note on it with a quote referring to a video that I've seen in at least 5 english classes, The Currant Bush" video: https://speeches.byu.edu/talks/hugh-b-brown/god-gardener/
"Thank you, Mr. Gardner, for cutting me down. For loving me enough to hurt me." This was another little tender mercy, a testimony that God loves us enough to let us be hurt. I know that He wants what is best for us, and He knows what will help us grow. So yeah that's how I got to 일산
Stickerboarding at 영등포역
New son
Ice cream with new district
Us after throwing a 갑자기 district council since nobody came to our sports activity (we made some great plans for this transfer)
The plans ^^^^
